Oversize permitted vehicles and combinations are not permitted to operate on the following holidays and associated restriction days:
- New Year’s Day

When a listed holiday falls on a Sunday, oversize movement is also prohibited on the following Monday. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, movement is prohibited on the preceding Friday.
Waivers may be granted for certain holiday restrictions when authorized by the appropriate authority.
Nighttime & Weather Restrictions
An oversize permit is not valid for movement:
- From sunset to sunrise (nighttime hours).
- During daylight hours when visibility is less than 500 feet.
- When hazardous road conditions make travel unsafe.

New York Oversize / Overweight Regulations

New York oversize and overweight permits authorize qualifying vehicles to travel during specified permissible hauling days and hours. Unless otherwise stated on the permit, standard travel is allowed Monday through Friday during daylight hours, from one-half hour before sunrise until one-half hour after sunset, when weather and road conditions are favorable.
General Travel Restrictions
Oversize and overweight movements are generally not permitted on Saturdays or Sundays or on the following holidays:

Saturday Travel Exception
Certain permitted loads may be authorized to travel on Saturday until 12:00 PM (noon) when they meet all applicable conditions, including:
- Width of 12 feet or less
- Length of 85 feet or less
- Legal height
- Ability to maintain normal highway speeds
This Saturday allowance does not apply when the Saturday falls on one of the listed restricted holidays.
Overweight-Only Travel Exception
Overweight-only movements that are not over-dimensional, remain within 125% of legal weight as defined by applicable New York law, and can maintain normal traffic-flow speeds may be exempt from the standard travel-day and travel-hour restrictions.
